FIELD: agriculture; machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the agricultural machine building. Working element for preharvest treatment of cotton consists of a post with a shoe, on which a bit is fixed. Roller is installed in front of the post by means of brackets with possibility of rotation relative to vertical axis. On the end of the roller there is a ratchet, and a stopper is installed on the bracket. Ratchet and stopper are interconnected. Roller rotation is carried out towards the axis of the treated stem of cotton. In the right-hand movement of the working member along the row, the roller is rotated clockwise, and in the left-hand motion, the roller is rotated counterclockwise.

EFFECT: working element ensures higher quality of preprocessing treatment of root system of cotton.
