SUBSTANCE: one of the methods given as an example includes generation of the first preset pressure value for the valve positioner connected to the actuator for actuation of the valve. First preset pressure value is connected with test at incomplete valve stroke. Exemplary method also includes controlling the outlet pressure of the positioner to achieve a first predetermined pressure for actuating the valve in the direction of travel. Exemplary method also includes determining whether the valve is wedged based on outlet pressure.

EFFECT: disclosed are methods and devices for testing valves at incomplete stroke using pressure control.
