FIELD: test technology.

SUBSTANCE: to generate a signal of a predetermined position to perform the stroke of the valve during the tests with partial stroke, determining the first target value for the signal of the predetermined position based on at least a threshold value of movement offset, wherein threshold value of stroke displacement corresponds to required length of valve travel during tests at incomplete stroke; quickly changing the preset position signal from the initial value to the first target value in the first time interval; after the first time interval, maintaining the preset position signal at the level of the first target value during the second time interval; determining a second target value for a given position signal based on at least an initial value; during third time interval following second interval, quickly change the preset position signal from the first target value to the second target value in the direction opposite the fast linear variation of the signal of the predetermined position during the first time interval.

EFFECT: tests are offered at incomplete stroke of shutoff gate valves.
