FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal element and method of its production. Metal element includes the first plate and the second plate adjoining and welded to the first plate on at least one butt section. At the butt section, the length from the first end to the second end of the welding line between the first plate and the second plate is greater than the length of the straight line connecting the first end to the second end of the welding line. Method includes preparation of the first plate and the second plate and provision of abutment of the first plate and the second plate to each other on at least one butt section, and welding together of the first plate and the second plate. Additionally, bending of intermediate article formed during welding is performed. Intermediate article includes a first welding line between the first plate and the second plate on the first butt joint, a second welding line between the first plate and the second plate on the second butt section and a curved portion which is located between the first butt joint and the second butt section and connects the first butt section and the second butt joint with each other. Length from first end to second end of first welding line exceeds length of straight line connecting first end and second end of first welding line. Second welding line is the shortest line connecting the first end and the second end of the second welding line along the surface of the second plate. During bending, intermediate product is located in bending die.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of making a metal element.
