SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to hair removal and, in particular, to hand device for hair removal. Manual hair removal device (10) comprises hair removal appliance (12), support structural element (14) and skin stretching device (16) attached to the support structural element and comprising at least two front surface portions (18a, 18b) for contacting skin and stretching the skin. Device has main direction (26) of movement, in which device must move relative to skin when in use. Hair removal appliance (12) comprises a skin contact portion for contacting the user's skin in operation, wherein the skin contact portion extends at least along a geometrical axis extending perpendicular to the main movement direction (26). At least, two front surface parts, when viewed in imaginary plane containing base line (27) and passing parallel to main movement direction (26), are located at opposite inclination angles making at least 20° relative to basic line (27), which passes perpendicular to main direction of movement and parallel to geometrical axis, and each of the at least two front surface portions has a skin-contacting surface portion having a main length direction that is inclined relative to the base line at an angle of at least 20°, if seen in said imaginary plane. In operation, the front surface portions are brought into contact with the skin for exposing the skin to a pressure force having a first vector parallel to the skin surface in a first direction parallel to the main direction of movement, and a second vector parallel to the skin surface in a second direction perpendicular to the main direction of movement. In the working position, the skin stretching device is located in front of the part intended for contact with skin in the main direction of movement. In operation, the skin extension device provides an extended skin area between the at least two front surface portions.
