SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to veterinary science, specifically to a kit for forming a physical barrier in an animal's nipple and to a method of treating or preventing a microbial infection of the animal's breast tissue, comprising administering a hydrogel composition into the animal's breast tissue, wherein the hydrogel formulation comprises: oxidant solution containing a polyvinyl alcohol macromer (PVA), N-acryloyl-aminoacetaldehyde functionalised with dimethylacetal (NAAADA), polyatomic alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, and a reducing agent solution containing a PVA macromer, functionalised NAAADA, polyatomic alcohol and Fe (II), wherein the oxidant and reducing agent solutions are combined to form a hydrogel.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables to obtain a hydrogel composition, which has moderate adhesion, in range of 0,05 to 0,5 H, swelling and mechanical strength, which ensures its presence in place for an unlimited period of time.
