SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for suspension dehydration. Screw press for separation of liquid from mixture of solid and liquid phases comprises, in general, tubular housing with axially spaced apart inlet part and outlet part, as well as filtering part between inlet part and outlet part, rotating auger installed in tubular body and passing axially through central passage for solid and liquid phases mixture movement from inlet part to outlet part with compression and dehydration of solid and liquid phases mixture by extruding at least part of liquid content of mixture to be brought out from tubular housing through fluid passage passages of filter part, surrounding the central passage, wherein the fluid passages are formed by gaps between the plates formed between each pair of adjacent filter plates. Filtering part includes an axially passing pack of coplanar filtering plates forming a central passage. Filter plates are permanently supported by surface fixed to surface by clamping device fixed relative to each other and clamped in direct close contact, configured to apply a given axial clamping pressure, substantially uniformly around the central passage. Filtering plates have the specified roughness of the surface, the gap between the plates depends on the specified surface roughness and axially clamping pressure. Described is a method of separating liquid from a mixture of solid and liquid phases using a screw press.

EFFECT: technical result is creation of reliable filtering device, which can process large volume of suspension, having finely dispersed particles.
