FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a composition for removal of a sulphur-containing compound from a hydrocarbon, where the sulphur-containing compound is hydrogen sulphide, a compound containing a -SH group, or a mixture thereof. Composition contains dialdehyde having 6–16 carbon atoms and a polyalkylene glycol. Invention also relates to a method of removing a sulphur-containing compound from a hydrocarbon and using the composition to remove sulphur-containing compounds from the hydrocarbon.
EFFECT: composition which is capable of safely and efficiently removing a sulphur-containing compound, in particular hydrogen sulphide, a compound containing a -SH group, or a mixture thereof, which is present in the hydrocarbon, and which does not cause corrosion of metals in the devices.
