FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of removing a sulphur-containing compound, comprising bringing into contact a composition containing as an active ingredient α,β-unsaturated aldehyde represented by following general formula (1),
with liquid or vapours, wherein the sulphur-containing compound is hydrogen sulphide, a compound containing -SH group, or a mixture thereof, wherein content α,β -unsaturated aldehyde ranges from 1 to 99.9 wt. %, where R1 and R2 each independently denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, or they are connected to each other to form an alkylene group having from 2 to 6 atoms carbon; and R3 denotes a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or is bonded to R1 to form an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms. Invention also relates to use of said composition.
EFFECT: technical result consists in safe and effective removal of sulphur-containing compounds contained in liquid and vapour.
