SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnets, particularly to compact magnets for deflection and focusing of electron and ion beams. Magnet comprises yoke having set of four faces and set of four angles of octagon; first set of four coils, each of which is wound on a set of four faces, respectively; and second set of four coils, each of which is wound respectively on set of four angles of octagon.
EFFECT: possibility of creating a homogeneous dipole magnetic field of a quadrupole focusing field.
