FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of modifying ion-exchange membranes by oppositely charged polyelectrolytes in order to increase ion selectivity of membranes, as well as to highly-ionically selective membranes modified by said method. Method of modifying cation-exchange membranes of polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride, PDADMAC, in order to increase ion selectivity of membranes, characterized by that modification is carried out by holding membrane in solution of PDADMAC in solvent, providing a degree of swelling membrane, increased relative to conditions of membrane operation, at least three times, where the solvent is an aqueous solution of a lower aliphatic alcohol selected from methanol, ethanol and isopropanol, and the alcohol concentration in the aqueous solution is about 20 wt. % to 90 wt. %.

EFFECT: technical result is high permeability of membranes to ions of vanadium.
