FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a radial adsorption unit with a U-shaped flow and can be used for cleaning air before cryogenic distillation. Radial adsorption unit comprises external tubular sidewall, elongated annular layer with adsorbing material, at least one partition to reduce irregularity of distribution of gas flow in annular layer and impermeable annular skirt to maintain annular layer. Upper and lower ends of outer sidewall are closed by upper and lower end walls, respectively. Elongated annular layer is located coaxially inside the external side wall, as a result, the first annular space is formed between the side wall and the annular layer. Annular skirt is located inside outer sidewall, resulting in a second annular space between sidewall and skirt that communicates with first annular space. On lower end of outer side wall there is at least one gas inlet.

EFFECT: simplified design and reduced load from gas inlets to upper part of adsorber.
