FIELD: cable repair method.
SUBSTANCE: method of repairing a cable having a damaged cable sheath involves removing a damaged portion of the shell to expose the inner portion of the cable, coating the exposed inner portion of the cable with a first material to form a first repair layer, wherein the first material is a flexible material with open cells, coating the first repair layer with a second material which is flexible and impermeable to liquid, to form a second repair layer such that a space exists between the first and second repair layers, which can be filled with a curable resin or a composition with a curable resin, introduction of a curable non-conductive resin between the first and second repair layers, curing said curable resin, coating at least the entire section of the remote shell to form a third repair layer, the third repair layer comprising a second or a third material. Also disclosed is a repaired cable produced by this method.
EFFECT: invention provides repair of damaged cable section without increasing section diameter.
