FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Disclosed are methods and systems for an improved user interface for displaying and scaling selected program commands and controls in at least one of first tape and second tape. Under the first tape of upper level commands tabs, the selected control elements associated with the selected commands tab are presented in the form of logical subgroups or sections. Selectable control elements in sections are discretely scaled to adapt to different screen sizes or window size changes. Scaling includes movement of a subset of selectable control elements in at least one of sections between the opening panel and the second tape.
EFFECT: providing displaying functional elements of application program in user interface depending on size of application window.
