SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of automatic detection of potential fraud by the cashier. Such result is achieved by the fact that a computer system for detecting potential fraud by the cashier comprises a bar code reading device, image capturing device configured to receive video data from a bar code reading area by a cashier, memory configured to store data, a data processing device configured to receive and analyze video data from an image capturing device and to obtain and analyze signals from a barcode reader. During video data analysis, the data processing device detects the commodity presentation event to the barcode reading device and automatically compares the time of arrival of the signal from the barcode reading device and the detected events of the goods presentation to the bar code reading device. If no correspondence is found between the said events, the data processing device determines the fact of potential fraud by the cashier.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of detecting potential fraud by the cashier.
