FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to processing of oxidised nickel-cobalt lateritic ore. Method includes wet sifting of ore with separation of coarse and fine fractions. Grade leaching of cobalt and manganese from fine fraction ore is carried out with sulfuric or sulfuric acid solution with reducing agent to obtain a mother solution. Leached ore is washed and prepared for melting to low ferronickel with low content of cobalt. Fractions of ore are not granulated. Nickel-cobalt concentrate, manganese and magnesium salts are extracted from the productive solution by sedimentation of nickel and cobalt sulphides or mixed hydroxides by known methods.
EFFECT: method ensures production of high-quality ferronickel from oxidized nickel ore with high content of cobalt, conversion of iron contained in iron ore into the commodity, extraction of cobalt, manganese and magnesium into a commercial product with high degree of their extraction from ore.
