FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: aqueous curable binding composition contains starting materials required to form a thermosetting resin, and a matrix polymer in an amount of about 1 to 20 % of the dry weight of the binder composition, wherein the starting materials include (i) a polyhydroxyl component selected from carbohydrate components and a polybasic carboxylic acid component or derivative thereof in form of an anhydride, ester or salt, or (ii) a carbohydrate component and a nitrogen-containing component.
EFFECT: invention relates to novel aqueous binder compositions.
