FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely anaesthesiology, surgery, and can be used in catheterisation of epidural space in children with idiopathic scoliosis of thoracic localization with a value greater than 90°. That is ensured by transthoracic puncture and catheterisation of the anterior epidural space before the thoracic wound closure after the ventral mobilization in the patient's position on the side. Epidural space catheterisation is performed at the level of the deformation vertex through the bed of the resected rib head in the cranial plane along the vertebral canal at angle of 45–50° to a horizontal plane visually projected at the deformation peak.
EFFECT: method provides safe catheterisation of the epidural space to provide postoperative analgesia in children after the first stage – transthoracic ventral mobilization, with three-stage surgical correction of scoliotic spinal deformity.
