FIELD: biology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves sampling water and measuring its spectral transparency using a spectrophotometer at wavelength 430 nm. Reference liquid used is distilled water. Spectral index of light attenuation in water is calculated and a trophic level corresponding to a range of spectral attenuation values is determined, specifically oligotrophic from 0 to 2 m-1, mesotrophic from 2 to 3 m-1, eutrophic from 3 to 23 m-1, hypereutrophic from 23 to 60 m-1.
EFFECT: invention provides efficient determination of trophic level of freshwater reservoirs.
