FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preventive medicine, namely to a method for determining atherogenic activity of food products, involving the use of a monocyte-macrophage cell model recovered from the blood of a healthy individual, for introduction of blood serum taken from volunteers receiving the analyzed food product for a certain period of time, followed by measurement of cholesterol accumulation in monocytes-macrophages of the model under action of blood serum and determining its ability to statistically significantly increase cholesterol content in cultured cells.

EFFECT: present invention provides development of relatively simple, accessible methods for determination of atherogenicity of food products in general and/or their ingredients, wider range of methods for determining the ability of components of food products to cause cardiovascular diseases.
