FIELD: grinding; polishing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sharpening of cutting edges of knives. Installation of the sharpened knife in the holder of the machine for sharpening of cutting edges of knives containing a working table is performed. Blade and sharpening disc are moved relative to each other. Sharpening angle is positioned on the basis of control of the position of the cutting edge of the sharpened knife relative to the grinding wheel in the zone, which allows excluding involuntary contact of the sharpening blade with the sharpened knife at the rotating grinding disk. Inspection of the position of the cutting edge is carried out by determining the zero zone of the cutting part of the periphery of the grinding wheel, in which the tangential cutting is directed perpendicular to the plane of the working table of the machine tool. Depending on the angle between the sharpened knife and the tangential cutting originating from the said zero zone, the position of the cutting edge of the sharpened knife relative to the cutting part of the sharpening disk periphery is determined. This position is indicated by the indicator of the position of the cutting edge and the cutting edge of the cutting edge position indicator is touched by the cutting edge of the sharpened knife.
