SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to the field of metalworking and can be used for sharpening, for example, knives in a sharpening device. The device contains a base on which a plate is fixed on the axis with at least one clamping bar installed on one of its sides, which is fixed by means of fasteners with the possibility of fixing the knife between the plate and the clamping bar, while the plate is made with a through groove in which it is located the mentioned axis, and the plate is mounted on the axis with the possibility of rotation and translational movement along the mentioned groove. On the plate is also placed with the possibility of fixing the stop, made with a groove for its movement. Also proposed is a method for sharpening a knife, including the use of the specified device.
EFFECT: use of inventions group makes it possible to improve the quality of sharpening.
