SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making a molded glass article. Method of making a molded glass article includes steps of: forming a glass tape comprising a substantially flat top side and a substantially flat bottom side, and forming a workpiece consisting of a glass of glass tape. Blank is attached to glass tape in aperture formed in glass tape. Blank is hollow with hole in aperture of glass tape and extends from lower side of glass tape. Further, a workpiece for forming a glass article is shaped. Glass article is attached to the glass tape in the attachment section. Attachment portion comprises an area close to the aperture edges. Attachment portion forms the edge of the glass article. Further, the attachment portion is brought into contact with the focal line of the laser beam such that the attachment portion is perforated with a laser beam. Focal line is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the glass tape. Contact causes spontaneous separation of glass article from glass tape on attachment section.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of debris when separating glass articles from glass tape.
