FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to vehicle illumination systems. Lighting system comprises photoluminescent section, light source and controller. Photoluminescent section is located on inner surface of engine compartment cover. Light source is located near the cover and is configured to excite excitation with a first wavelength directed towards the photoluminescent portion. Photoluminescent portion is configured to convert the first wavelength to the second wavelength. Controller is configured to selectively illuminate a light source for emitting light at a first intensity or a second intensity. Controller is configured to supply increased voltage with reduced duty cycle to create second intensity relative to first intensity.
EFFECT: higher illumination capabilities of lighting system.
