SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a pyrazolone compound of formula I or a salt thereof, a method for production thereof, an herbicidal composition and use thereof. In formula IR₁R₂N is unsubstituted pyrazolyl or imidazolyl; pyrazolyl, substituted with one or two groups selected from fluorine, chlorine, C_1-2alkyl and C_1-2alkoxy; or methoxy- or ethoxy-substituted or unsubstituted 5–8-member lactam group containing 0–2 heteroatoms selected from O, S and N; or R₁ and R₂ each is hydrogen, unsubstituted C_1-8alkyl or C_1-8alkyl substituted with halogen atoms, C_1-4alkoxy or methoxyethoxy; or C_1-4acyl, unsubstituted or substituted with halogen or C_1-2alkoxy; R₃ is hydrogen, C_1-4alkyl, unsubstituted C_3-6cycloalkyl or C_3-6cycloalkyl substituted with C_1-4alkyl; R₄ is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl or cyclopropyl; X is hydrogen, -S(O)_nR⁶, -(C=O)R⁸, where R⁶ is ethyl and n is 2, R⁸ is C_1-2alkoxy, methyl, unsubstituted N-methylpyrazolyl or N-methylpyrazolyl substituted on the ring with one or more groups selected from C_1-2alkyl and C_1-2alkoxy.
