FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar ranging, in particular, to methods of measuring angular coordinates of targets when viewing airspace and ground surface, and can be used in radar stations (RLS) with digital antenna arrays (DAA). Method is based on generation of a beam pattern of an antenna (BPA) by DAA subarrays for transmission of an overlapping width across a width of a given zone of view, generating a probing signal, receiving a reflected signal by each subarray of the DAA. Further, the sum-difference multi-beam BPA is formed for reception by means of digital beam formation so that its beams overlap along the BPA width for transmission. Then, the target is detected in each summary beam of the sum-difference multi-beam BPA pattern, when the target is detected in the summary beam of the sum-difference multibeam BPA, the angular coordinate of the target is measured in the corresponding difference beam of the sum-difference multibeam BPA.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring angular coordinates of targets at high speed of scanning space.
