FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to development of new non-radioactive materials, and can be used in nuclear power industry, in particular, for production of special equipment for wet and dry storage of spent nuclear fuel and its transportation. Aluminum-based alloy for thermal neutrons absorption contains, wt%: aluminum not less than 96.5, samarium 0.5–2.5, and as impurities: copper not more than 0.05; magnesium not more than 0.05; manganese is not more than 0.025; zinc not more than 0.10; iron not more than 0.30; silicon is not more than 0.30.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at development of alloy with high level of absorption of thermal neutrons with preservation of high level of operational properties.
