FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, to development of new non-radioactive materials and can be used in nuclear power industry for production of special equipment for wet and dry storage of spent nuclear fuel and its transportation. Zirconium-based thermal neutrons absorption alloy contains, wt%: niobium 0.9–1.1; samarium 0.5–5.0; hafnium 0.5–2.5; zirconium and admixtures – balance.
EFFECT: alloy is characterized by high absorption of thermal neutrons while maintaining operational reliability.
