FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing 5,8-(bis(methylene(N,N-dimethyl-N-dodecylammonium))-2-ethyl-4H-[1,3]dioxin[4,5-c]pyridinium dichloride of formula I, involving reaction of pyridoxine hydrochloride, p-toluenesulphonic acid and propionic aldehyde with molar ratio of reagents of 1:1.1:1.4 in toluene while boiling for 6 hours with separation of 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-ethyl-8-methyl-4H-[1,3]dioxino[4,5-c]pyridine of formula 2, characterized by that successively: compound 2 is chlorinated with thionyl chloride with molar ratio of reagents of 1:1.9 in toluene at 50 °C for 4 hours with separation of 5-(chloromethyl)-2-ethyl-8-methyl-4H-[1,3]dioxino[4,5-c]pyridinium chloride 8, solution of compound 8 in chloride methylene is neutralized with aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate with molar ratio of reagents of 1:1, with further separation of organic part and its interaction during reaction in chloroform with trichlorisocyanuric acid with molar ratio of reagents of 1:1.05, the precipitate is filtered and the filtrate is treated with hydrogen chloride to isolate 5,8-bis(chloromethyl)-2-ethyl-4H-[1,3]dioxino[4,5-c]pyridine hydrochloride (7), compound 7 is neutralized with aqueous solution of sodium hydrocarbonate with molar ratio of reagents of 1:1.1, recovered precipitate is heated in acetone at 55 °C with N,N-dimethyl dodecylamine with molar ratio of reagents of 1:2, filtered and recrystallised from ethyl acetate : ethanol.

EFFECT: novel method of producing a [1,3]dioxin[4,5-c]pyridinium derivative of formula I, characterized by high output of the end product, low labor input and wastes.
