FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment for production of foam ceramics by means of microwave swelling of clay material. To obtain foam ceramics, a mixture of clay material and a water solution of potassium or sodium silicate is exposed to ultrahigh-frequency electromagnetic radiation in order to swell it. Disclosed device comprises a working chamber consisting of two wedge-shaped horns, top and bottom connected by wide sides (bases). Narrow side of the upper horn is connected to a rectangular waveguide which connects the working chamber to the microwave generator. Swell billet is arranged in joint plane of wide sides at their center. As a result of absorption of microwave energy there is uniform heating and swelling of clay billet.
EFFECT: uniform effect of microwave action on clay billets in order to obtain foam ceramics brick of standard dimensions with low heat conductivity and high strength properties.
