METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION OF ICE DOCK OR ISLAND Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC E02D17/00 E01D15/14

Abstract RU 2698888 C1

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice science and can be used for operational construction of ice islands and berths for mooring of ships during cargo handling, supply, arrangement of cargoes and structures, etc. in the shallow-water zone of the Arctic seas. Method comprises cutting of ice blocks from smooth land-bound ice from snow, using the winch or transportation equipment to transport them to the construction site, installation of blocks at the bottom at angle of 60–80° in the form of a horizontal pile with rigid fixation of the extreme block to prevent their deviation from the specified position. Initial angle of blocks installation can be reduced with corresponding increase of block width, which will facilitate the installation of subsequent units due to reduction of traction force during unit turn. Then similar assemblies of blocks are made next to the initial one so that the ice platform is expanded to the required dimensions. Due to accumulated cold in blocks of ice, and then under the action of low temperatures of air they are frozen into a single monolith. After installation of blocks and their freezing, the upper surface of the platform is leveled by filling irregularities with small-piece ice pieces and pouring with water for their complete freezing or by pouring or spraying. Necessary condition of construction is availability of flat ice on the area sufficient for construction with ice blocks.

EFFECT: enabling to obtain an ice platform resting on the bottom, with strength sufficient for arrangement of loads, equipment, equipment, and so forth on it.
