FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reception and conversion of laser radiation and can be used to detect laser radiation acting on spacecraft. Disclosed is a method of determining the direction of a laser radiation source, according to which laser radiation is detected by light-sensitive elements and the direction to the radiation source is determined based on the results of processing the detected signals. To determine direction of laser radiation source with reduction of weight and dimensional characteristics of measuring device, photosensitive elements are combined into a flat matrix, installing a light-tight cylinder in the center of the matrix orthogonally to its surface; the diameter of the cylinder is selected on the order of the transverse size of the light-sensitive element; the height of the cylinder is selected from the condition that the shadow of the cylinder hits the surface of the matrix when the angle of incidence of the laser radiation changes within the specified limits.
EFFECT: determining direction of laser radiation source with reduction of weight and dimensional characteristics of measuring instrument.
