SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer and television equipment, namely to interactive demonstration of contextual information when reproducing a video stream. Disclosed is a method for interactive demonstration of contextual information when reproducing a video stream, comprising: a user control action on a frame point of the video stream and interactive interaction of the user with context information, creation of a file containing data on timing – time of beginning and end of possible demonstration of contextual information, coordinates of area of frame, to which context information relates, necessity of suspension in case of technical possibility of reproduction of video stream for time of demonstration of contextual information, as well as data on location of contextual information. Video stream reproducer is used, equipped with function to read information from said file and function to associate context information with any area of frame, carried out based on data on coordinates of frame area and frame timing, wherein according to the user control action on the selected frame point using the video stream playback means, the context information is displayed, contained directly in a video stream or in a separate file, which is delivered to a user simultaneously with a video file or at another time or transmitted via interactive communication channels (digital television, Internet).

EFFECT: demonstration of contextual information relating directly to a user of interest to an object.
