FIELD: hygiene.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an oral care composition with high water content and a method for use thereof. Disclosed is an oral care composition containing at least 45 wt. % water in a total composition; at least 20 wt. % by weight of composition of 70 % sorbitol solution by weight of the composition; system for thickening, which is a combination of carboxymethyl cellulose and xanthan. Carboxymethyl cellulose is present in the composition in amount of 0.60 wt. % by weight of the composition and xanthan is present in the composition in an amount of about 0.65 wt. % by weight of the composition. Composition does not contain glycerol, water-soluble ions of bivalent tin and additional preserving agents. Disclosed also is a method for cleaning a dental surface, involving use of said composition.
EFFECT: use of said quantitative sorbitol content in the presence of a combination of carboxymethyl cellulose and xanthan provides a microorganism protection index of at least 0,75 in an oral care composition with a high water content without using any additional preserving agents.
