FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of zeolites. Disclosed is a zeolite mordenite containing a pore inside a pore for forming a structure selected from a group comprising tetraethylammonium (TEA), methyltriethylammonium (MTEA) and mixtures thereof, having a mesopore surface area of more than 30 m2/g and up to 62 m2/g, and the mesopore surface area to total zeolite surface area ratio of more than 0.05 and up to 0.11. Zeolite contains agglomerates consisting of primary crystallites. Crystallites have a mean primary crystal size determined by transmission electron microscopy of less than 80 nm. Also disclosed is a method of producing zeolite.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain mordenite having fine crystals and a large surface of mesopores.
