FIELD: radio engineering and communications.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and is intended to reduce the complexity of a signal/power transmission system while ensuring maximum achievable energy efficiency of a radio-frequency channel by calibrating channels of multi-element phased antenna arrays. Method of calibrating channels of a transmitting antenna comprises steps of transmitting to a receiver reference signals, modified reference signals, additional reference signals, measuring their amplitudes with an amplitude detector of the receiver, calculating the phase of the obtained signals using geometric representations of signals on the complex plane, as well as using properties of code matrices used to modify transmitted reference signals, determining the propagation factor vector using the found amplitudes and phases, determining the optimum excitation vector as a vector which is a complex conjugate propagation vector, and using the transmitter control unit, calibrating the channels by adjusting complex signal amplitudes in each channel of the transmitter based on the optimum excitation vector.

EFFECT: methods are proposed for calibrating channels of phased antenna array.
