SUBSTANCE: invention relates to conveyor control, such as face scraper conveyor or console reloader. Conveyor includes sprocket, chain, drive mechanism, hydraulic cylinder and controller. Chain is connected to sprocket and has chain top part and chain bottom. Drive mechanism is connected with sprocket and can drive sprockets. Controller includes a processing unit and a storage device. Controller is configured to receive a first signal relating to a certain characteristic of the drive mechanism, receiving a second signal relating to the sprocket resistance force, calculating the tension of the upper part of the chain based on the first signal and the second signal and generating a control signal for controlling the position of the hydraulic cylinder based on the determined tension of the upper part of the chain.

EFFECT: technical result is automatic control of chain tension.
