SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building and can be used in systems of protection and control of stationary gas turbine plants, gas pumping units for protection of gas turbine engine from surging. Method for improving operating reliability of an engine is solved by a method of operating a gas turbine engine with a protective mesh at the inlet and an anti-icing system, according to which experimentally before operation for air temperature at engine inlet t boundary value tbnd is selected from interval +2…+7 °C, on the basis of which two engine operation programs are formed, namely cold mode for t≤tbnd and hot mode for t>tbnd, also for all rotor speeds of compressor n determine initial value of pressure drop on protective grid Pin by pressure sensors installed before and after it, and setting an upper boundary of pressure drop corresponding to motor surging Psurge, in addition, for cold mode boundary icing Pic, and for hot mode boundary of contamination Pcont, wherein icing and contamination boundaries lie between boundaries Psurge and Pin and are at least 10 % away from the latter, then, during real-time operation, measuring current value of pressure drop on protective grid Pcurrent and depending on air temperature at engine inlet according to selected engine operation program is compared to Pic or, respectively, with Pcont, and, if in hot mode Pcurrent≥Pcont, engine is stopped and protective mesh is inspected, if in cold mode Pcurrent≥Pcont, anti-icing system is switched on for not less than 10 minutes, and upon completion of its operation in case Pcurrent reduced by not less than 10 % of its value at the moment of activation of anti-icing system, continues operation in standard mode, and if said reduction has not occurred, then engine is stopped and inspection of protective mesh, and, regardless of selected engine operation program, if Pcurrent≥Psurge, engine is stopped.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of operating a gas turbine engine with a protective mesh at the inlet and an anti-icing system.
