SUBSTANCE: invention refers to dentistry and discloses a method for determining the effectiveness of treating an individual diagnosed with inflammation in the oral cavity. Method involves obtaining a test sample of material from the oral cavity, such as saliva, from said subject, determining the amount of polymorphonuclear neutrophils or indicator substance polymorphonuclear neutrophils in said analysed sample, comparing the number of polymorphonuclear neutrophils or the indicator substance of polymorphonuclear neutrophils in said analysed sample with control and selecting a treatment regimen.
EFFECT: method enables to monitor progression of treating inflammation of the oral cavity.
