FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to biotechnology, namely to use of HSV antibody and pharmaceutical composition for topical application in treating acute infection of mucous or epidermal tissue in individual. HSV antibody which recognizes HSV-1 and/or HSV-2 glycoprotein B (gB) and has the ability to inhibit the spread of HSV from the infected cell to a neighbouring second non-infected cell (cell-to-cell propagation), or its antigen-binding fragment for treating an acute mucosal or epidermal tissue infection in an individual caused by HSV-1 or HSV-2, which is selected from a group consisting of simple labial herpes, simple genital herpes, an infection which is a chronic or disseminated form of simple cutaneous herpes, herpes wrestlers-athletes and herpetiform eczema are used for topical application. Said antibody is contained in a pharmaceutical composition for topical application in treating an acute mucosal or epidermal tissue infection in an individual.
