FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to production of ferrosilicon. Mixture for making ferrosilicon contains the following, wt%: quartzite 34–50, carbonaceous reducer 30–34, pyrite cinder pellets – balance.
EFFECT: invention widens range of charge compositions by using cheap and non-deficit raw material, improved characteristics of operation of furnace plant owing to use of charge having low electric conductivity, which leads to increased extraction of silicon at increase of filtering layer of charge and reduced formation of non-technological slag, and also allows to work at higher step of furnace transformer voltage, which increases electric efficiency of furnace installation.
