SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems and methods for creating cutting patterns of untreated precious stone. More specifically, it relates to systems and methods which identify internal impurities and external shortcomings of unprocessed gemstones and automatically select from a plurality of possible cutting patterns the most valuable cutting pattern. Disclosed system and method for automatic creation of creating cutting patterns of untreated precious stone comprises apparatus equipped with a precious stone holder, which holds untreated precious stone to be evaluated. Camera records several external images of the untreated gem while rotating and illuminated. Three-dimensional external image of the untreated gemstone, including external imperfections, is created using an image processing device controlled by software. After immersion of gem in medium, which has refraction index is same as that of gemstone, chamber records several internal images of untreated gem during rotation and illumination. Three-dimensional images of impurities inside the unprocessed gem are created and combined with a three-dimensional external image of the untreated gemstone. Identifying correct locations, shapes and sizes of internal impurities and external imperfections of untreated gemstone. Image analysis device, which is controlled by the software, calculates three-dimensional cutting patterns and selects the most valuable cutting pattern when estimating the value of the untreated precious stone using data in real time.

EFFECT: design of a system and a method of identifying internal impurities and external shortcomings of unprocessed gemstones and automatic selection of the most valuable cut from a plurality of possible cutting patterns of the most valuable cut.
