FIELD: jewelry. SUBSTANCE: synthetic jewels distinguishing by extraordinary brilliance and hardness are manufactured from large monocrystals of semitransparent silicon carbide of the same polytypicism with relatively low concentration of impurities. Crystals are grown in assembly including sublimation stove. Crystals are cut into unpolished jewels, which are then shaped and so became finished jewels. In the course of growth, one can impart a variety of colors and tints to jewels by the aid of selected crystal supplements. Colorless jewel is obtained when crystal is grown without supplements in assembly protected from undesired contaminating atoms. EFFECT: improved appearance of synthetic jewels. 50 cl, 3 dwg
