FIELD: jewelry industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to jewelery industry and can be used in processing of semi-precious and handicraft materials, in particular, cabochons with complex surface. Treatment is performed by end surface of rotating abrasive wheel. Billet is fed forming feed motion to obtain alternating line generatrix and constant guide line. Billet is installed with specified value of shift of center of gravity of its base section in plane perpendicular to billet rotation axis. Motions forming a constant guide line are supplemented by translation of the center of gravity of the base section in the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the workpiece, reducing the specified value of displacement to zero.
EFFECT: result is increased variety of cabochons surface forms.
