SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to devices and fixtures for processing cabochons of precious and ornamental stones. The device consists of a horizontally mounted grinding wheel, a holder intended for fixing the stone being processed, a means for rotating the holder, a means for manually turning the holder around an axis perpendicular to its own, and adjusting its position relative to the grinding wheel. The holder is fixed with a spindle placed on bearings inside the housing located on the handle, which is a means of manually turning the holder around an axis perpendicular to its own. The handle is connected on bearings to a horizontally oriented shaft, fastened to a cage that allows the handle to be rotated around the axis of a vertically oriented fixed rod of a cylindrical swivel joint. The position of the holder relative to the grinding wheel is adjusted, which determines the radius of curvature of the cabochon by how remote the point of intersection of these mutually perpendicular axes is from the point of contact of the stone being processed with the grinding wheel. The detachable die allows the cabochon to be machined with a surface profile other than spherical.

EFFECT: number of settings is reduced, and accuracy and quality of processing are increased.
