SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and method for oxidation-reduction combustion of hydrocarbon fractions in a chemical cycle (CLC), particularly nitrogen production. Method includes combustion of hydrocarbon material by reduction of oxidation-reduction active mass brought into contact with raw material in reduction zone, first oxidation stage in the first oxidation zone of the reduced redox active mass by bringing into contact with the first oxygen-depleted air flow fraction to obtain a diazotite stream containing less than or equal to 100 ppm vol. of dioxygen, and a stream of partially re-oxidised redox active mass, a second oxidation step in a second oxidation zone of the stream of partially re-oxidised redox active mass by bringing into contact with air to obtain an oxygen-depleted air stream, and flow of re-oxidised oxidation-reduction active mass and separation of oxygen-depleted air stream to obtain first fraction of oxygen-depleted air stream and second additional fraction of oxygen-depleted air flow withdrawn from chemical cycle.
EFFECT: invention ensures production of nitrogen of high degree of purity with good output and minimization of prime cost with respect to investments and power consumption.
