SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy. Ceramic refractory plug in form of a rod with full axial length LS, comprises plug body (12) with axial length LB and dome-like head (14) with axial length LH. First end section (12U) of body (12) of the plug is equipped with means for attachment of the plug to the lifting and lowering device. Body (12) of the plug contains at least one outer flat section (P1, P2, P3) of the surface along at least 50 % of the axial length LB of body (12) of the plug. Flat surface of the plug body ensures reduction of the volume of the refractory material required for making the plug.

EFFECT: prevention of unwanted rolling of plugs and optimized storage and packaging of plugs due to reduced space.
