FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making an overlapped weld joint (versions) and an overlapped weld joint having an improved fatigue limit. Part of the first steel material having the specified thickness, and part of the second steel material having the specified thickness overlap each other in the form of overlapping parts. Edge part of the first steel material is welded to the front surface of the second steel material so that the weld zone extends along the edge part. Direction, which is perpendicular to the direction of continuation of the weld zone and parallel to the front surface of the second steel material, is defined as a given direction in which the weld joint is kept away from movement. First steel material is held against movement in direction of thickness of first steel material, and second steel material is held against movement in direction of thickness of second steel material, and part of overlapped part of second steel material is heated to form molten part in part of overlapped part of second steel material.

EFFECT: method of improving the fatigue limit of an overlapped weld joint, a method for making an overlapped weld joint and an overlapped weld joint are disclosed.
