SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the steel sheets spot arc welding containing carbon in the amount of 0.2 wt. % or more. Base plate contains contacting with the bottom steel sheet contact part, and a contactless part that is in a contactless state with it. Plate is positioned so, that its contact part was in contact with the bottom steel sheet in the position further, than 3t from the center of the equivalent circumference of the weld bead formed on the back surface of this sheet, where t is the thickness of the thinnest sheet to be welded. During welding,performing the alternate and continuous repetition of arc generation and the short-circuit conductivity development so, that the short circuit time, when the welding voltage becomes equal to 10 V or less, was not more than 30 % to less than 60 % of the conductivity cycle duration.

EFFECT: invention enables the welded joint having specified weld bead parameters and having the excellent strength.
