FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: method for determination of density of solid bodies and device for its implementation relate to the field of instrument making. Device for implementation of proposed method includes transparent cylindrical vertical vessel with graduated in volume units and arranged in it is liquid, bedplate, wherein vessel is divided by rigid horizontal, freely permeable for liquid partition to two cavities of equal volume, lower of which is filled with liquid in volume equal to half of capacity of vessel, and is equipped with two rigidly fixed with vessel, outer horizontal cylindrical pins, axis of which passes through the center of gravity of the vessel, as well as geometrically identical tight plugs with retainers of the vertical position of the vessel, wherein pins are arranged with possibility of rotation on vertical stands of bedplate, equipped with control level of its horizontal position and height-adjustable feet. Fluid may be colored or opaque. Bedplate can be mounted on scales.
EFFECT: determining density of solid bodies of regular and irregular shape, simplifying calculations and measuring operations, enabling measurement of density of samples having both negative and positive buoyancy in a liquid.
